The SPS administration team met to review the process from yesterday. Based on the information provided, there was no immediate threat to the students or staff in our schools. We were advised to go into a “Secure Campus” to limit pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area of the incident. Given that there was not an immediate threat and Central is a closed campus, we did allow our students at Central to attend recess. Again, with the information that we were given from law enforcement, this seemed to be appropriate.
In the future, we will be adding a link to the text message sent out through Infinite Campus for all individuals.Yesterday’s initial communication was not sufficient enough for families and we acknowledge that.
We hope that we will not have to deal with situations like yesterday, but in the event we do, we strive to be more prepared and provide better communication to the parents of our students.

Law enforcement contacted the school letting us know that that they were able to resolve the situation. All schools impacted by the threat have returned to normal activity. There are no restrictions at any building. We want to thank law enforcement for their communication with the school to ensure the safety of all students and staff members.

The Middle School and High School are in a brief Hold in Place over the lunch hour as there is a potential threat outside of the school buildings that may pose a threat to safety of students and staff. Students will not be allowed to leave the school campus over lunch as a result of the situation. Central Elementary is in a modified lockdown where students will be able to participate in recess until further notice but all visitors will be screened prior to school entry. Law enforcement is currently responding to a situation and we are in contact with them to ensure the safety of our students and staff is maintained.
Please do not call the school office or the secretaries at this time. We will get more information out to you as soon as possible. Students will not be able to leave campus without parents picking them up. A phone call will not suffice.

This weeks events!

Here are the September breakfast and lunch menus.

The High School was in a brief "Hold in Place" this afternoon. A "Hold in Place" is a potential threat outside of the school building that doesn't pose an immediate safety concern for students or staff, but done in case the threat elevates. Law enforcement responded to a domestic situation across the street from school. Law enforcement did an excellent job of handling the situation effectively. No students were involved in the incident.
